Alice and I headed down to Denver for last night’s eclipse, returning to the State Capitol where we shot a total lunar eclipse in September 2015.
Denver is a little light on compelling architecture with which to juxtapose the +26 degree altitude moon, and the State Capitol has some nice colour matches and a bright red ‘orb’ on top that fits the eclipsed moon vibe – so a return seemed OK.
I did the whole “perch the moon on top thing”, despite my deep misgivings about such shots generally (when did you ever see a real artist paint the Moon directly atop a building? they don’t and for very good reasons). However, it’s the thing to do, and I suppose it helps demonstrate software precision:
The second one has some slightly blown out highlights (sorry @dsjohnstonwv !), but if I were to spend a lot more time on processing it wouldn’t really be on this shot anyway.
Anyway, a fun outing with perfect conditions for a very nice lunar eclipse!
