Here’s a shot of a classic Colorado Front Range winter standing wave cloud that runs North-South over the foothills - taken in Boulder 30 minutes ago:
The HRRR model forecasts it pretty well - the yellowish color is high cloud and the salmon pink is a mix of high and medium cloud. This is shown on the Cloud (multi) layer that combines high/medium/low forecast with distinct colors that make all layer combinations visible. The map reticle is located over Boulder.
When these formations persist until sunset, you can get some spectacular colour.
