Hi all.
In the past TPE Web was modified in order to view direction lines also for negative values of elevation, since it’s possible to have them, if shooting point is located at elevate quote.
Now, this is no longer possible.
Is this a bug?
Hi @s.zanarello - the web app does show azimuth lines for the Sun when below the horizon already, but I’m guessing you want it for the Moon also? There have been no changes to the current behaviour in as long as I can remember…
The logical approach might be to continue to show the azimuth line until the upper limb of the body is at the altitude corresponding to the dip of the horizon, but that would require configuring the elevation at the horizon, which is an extra step or two.
Maybe just showing the azimuth line with reduced width and increased transparency (as I currently do for the Sun) until a value -5 degrees might work? (5 degrees is about the most extreme the dip of the horizon could ever be for a ground based observer.)
Hi Stephen, you’re right, I’m talking about moon. I remember that also for moon there was the visualization of azimuth lines for slightly negative elevation, as for the sun, but maybe I’m wrong.
Anyway, the solution now implemented for the sun (line with reduced width and increased transparency) until a value -5 degrees will be perfect
I’ll try to get this implemented in beta over the weekend.
@s.zanarello - this is now implemented in the beta version 3.14.0 available at https://beta.photoephemeris.com. Let me know if this gives you what you need.
The same changes have now been made in TPE for iOS 4.15b587. For TestFlight users, there’ll be a beta available as soon as Apple approves…
