Just 24 hours until the partial solar eclipse tomorrow.
We’re still in the northeast of England and plan to try heading up the coast into Northumberland tomorrow morning. In the screenshots below, you can see the simulation of the eclipse - it’s a relatively low magnitude partial in this location, but should still look quite striking.
I’m actually hoping the forecast cloud cover does materialise as forecast (see the screenshot from the UK Met Office 2km model showing the multi-level cloud cover): it doesn’t look like it should be completely overcast, so I’m hoping the sun will be visible through the clouds.
In those conditions, it should be ok to use a variable neutral density filter to capture a wide angle shot with illuminated foreground, something that simply can’t be done without blending when using a true solar filter.
