Here’s a preview of the new weather maps we’re working on for Photo Ephemeris iOS 5.0. We’re using the MapBox map SDK which allows for flexible map styling and a nice 3D globe view at lower zoom levels. This screenshot shows the multi-level cloud layer from the HRRR model over North America:
The interface works very similarly to the weather beta for the web app, just with things slimmed down for mobile devices. The smooth animation of weather over time is also working the same as in the web version.
Still a way to go with the development, but I wanted to you a taste of how things are progressing…
