Sync GPS/GPX from Google Maps Data

Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate some advice on improving my workflow.

I store a lot of GPS and GPX data in my Google Maps account, and I’m looking for a smoother way to use it alongside The Photographer’s Ephemeris.

Currently, I export data from Google Maps and either import it where possible or manually enter the coordinates and drop a pin. It works, but it feels a bit clunky and time-consuming.

Has anyone found a better way to sync or streamline this between Google Maps and TPE?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Mark - would you be looking to import this via the web app or iOS? Or both? What format is the GPS data in? The iOS app support KML import for Placemarks currently.

I’m interested to add better support for this, particularly GPX tracks, so let me know how you would like to be able to use those within the site/app.

Hello Stephen, thanks for getting back to me.

I’ve linked (Dropbox) a GPX file, which was captured on a Garmin InReach Mini 2

In my workflow, I think I would sync via the web portal.

However, I bet there will be users who use a GPS/GPX log-tracking app, such as Geotag Photos Pro, on their mobile devices and want to sync from there.

If you need any beta testing, please bear me in mind.
